Trent Valley wanderings

A day out with Phil and Mike following in the footsteps of Charles Hurst, from Burton Joyce to the centre of Nottingham

Are these Hurst's oaks? On the island between Burton Joyce and Shelford

Englishness at its best: a roaming playwright, an art gallery director and a Church of England vicar combine with the lady publican of Shelford for a fine session of story-sharing in the very bar where Hurst enjoyed 'many a ponderous jest' with 'a few callow youths, ranging in age from fifty to one hundred years'

Across the Trent from Stoke Bardolph - possibly an Entrance to Hell
