    Psalm 145

Sometimes we think that prayer is just us talking to God.

And it often is just that.

Some of us think we don't pray very often or even at all

Because we only talk to God if we're especially upset or anxious or angry perhaps.

    But I wonder about that.

I think maybe we pray more often than we might imagine.

Because prayer is not just us talking to God.

    It's us listening for God.

    It's God talking to us.

It's us looking out for God.

It's God showing Godself to us.

If you think you don't pray very often or even at all

You might consider stopping to think again.

If you think that prayer is just you talking to God

You might consider stopping to listen awhile.

    Martin Wroe - If I stopped [1]

    if I stopped

if I was quiet for a minute
    if I was calm
    if I was silent
    if I was still

    if I turned everyone down
    if I switched everything off
if I ceased looking everywhere all at once
    if I was silent
    if I was still

    if I stayed home
if I didn't pick up the phone
if I was out even when I was in
    if I was silent
    if I was still...
    if I slowed
    right
    down

    if I simply sat
    here
    there
    everywhere

if I stood on my head
    and emptied out the contents

    if I stopped

    would you be there
    would you speak to me
would I be able to hear
would I know it was you
    would it be worth it?

    if I stopped
    would it be long enough?

    if I was silent
    would I hear anything?

    if I heard something
would I know it was you?

    if I did
    would I be interested?

    if I was
    would I stop again?
